A Spiritual Whisper in the Stillness
Today was the first time I actually experienced a flood warning in the Charlotte area. The skies were heavy, the ground soaked, and the rhythm of the rain was steady all morning.

While walking with Duke, my ever-faithful companion, a squirrel froze right in front of us—halfway down a tree, suspended in that signature squirrel stance. It didn’t dart off right away. Instead, it stared right at us, holding our gaze in the kind of silence that speaks volumes.
Just for a moment, time felt suspended.
And then, as soon as Duke took a step forward, it was gone—vanishing into the safety of the trees like a ghost slipping behind the curtain of reality.
But something about that pause… felt intentional.
🧺 What the Squirrel Symbolizes Spiritually
In many spiritual traditions and animal symbolism teachings, the squirrel isn’t just a cute forest creature—it’s a messenger.
1. Prepare and Trust
Squirrels are gatherers. They collect what they need for the colder months, often storing more than they’ll ever use. And yet, they don’t find every seed they bury.
That’s part of the magic—they trust that what they plant will grow, even if they never see it again.
Am I planting seeds right now that my future self will thank me for?
Am I willing to let go of control and trust the process?
2. Energy, Play, and Movement
There’s a playful spirit to squirrels. They’re agile, alert, and full of life. Their appearance might be a reminder to shake off the heaviness and allow moments of lightness, laughter, and movement back in.
Even in transition, joy is allowed.
3. Protection + Boundaries
The way the squirrel paused, then retreated, felt like a subtle nudge from Spirit:
“It’s okay to observe, to be present, and then retreat when the energy shifts.”
“You are allowed to protect your peace.”
Especially with Duke by my side—my protector, my guardian—it all felt layered. Safe. Meant to be.
🌱 The Message I Received
The squirrel didn’t just cross our path.
It delivered a whisper:
“Prepare. Play. Protect your peace. And when the time is right, leap forward again.”
Maybe you’ve been visited lately too—by animals, numbers, signs in nature. Maybe your own soul is calling out for confirmation, asking for proof that you’re not alone on this path.
You’re not.
Even a squirrel can carry a divine message if we’re paying attention.
And today, I was listening.
And I heard it loud and clear.
