Yesterday, I spent the Fourth of July in the most unexpected and beautiful way—with a new friend, healthy snacks, and a sense of freedom I haven’t felt in a long time.
I visited Laura at her apartment and we spent the whole day together—poolside, laughing, sharing food, and simply being present. I wore a bikini I found in Mila’s closet (she outgrew it, and it fit me perfectly). That alone felt brave—new pool, new people, new level of confidence. Someone even complimented my tattoo, and I felt proud to be seen.
Laura made dinner that tasted like it came from a fancy restaurant: salmon, ravioli, and fried kale (yes, fried kale—and it was incredible). We even started Game of Thrones! I’m not sure I’ll get hooked, but it was fun to try.
Later, while walking Duke and Dice (my weekend sidekick), I noticed dragonflies, cicadas, birds, and even frogs singing at Laura’s. It felt like nature was celebrating with us.
This was more than a hangout. It was a reminder: I’m safe now to trust, to connect, to show up as I am. God is bringing kind, wise souls into my life for a reason. And I’m ready to receive.
